Jacobs Receives Contract for National Concert Hall in Dublin

PASADENA, Calif., July 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it received a contract to provide technical advisory services to the Commissioners of Public Works (CPW) and the National Development Finance Agency (NDFA) to redevelop the historic National Concert Hall in Dublin, Ireland on behalf of the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism and the National Concert Hall.

Officials did not provide the contract value.

Jacobs will provide technical advisory services for the preparation, tendering, evaluation, and execution monitoring of a Public Private Partnership agreement for design, construction, finance, and maintenance for 25 years.

The Hall is one of Ireland's most important cultural institutions, dating to the 1860s. The building includes a 1,200 seat auditorium and associated spaces which host over 500 performances per year. The redevelopment plan is for an international-level concert hall complex which will include a refurbished existing auditorium, a new 2,050-seat symphonic music auditorium, and a new 480-seat chamber music auditorium. All three auditoria will have acoustic and seating flexibility to host a variety of music performances, recordings, and broadcasts. The redevelopment will also include foyers, function rooms, dressing rooms, music practice rooms, dance studio, catering, bars, and retail areas. Extensive areas will be devoted to support the National Concert Hall's program of music education and outreach.

The building will be home to the RTE National Symphony Orchestra, providing rehearsal spaces, dressing rooms, and administration offices.

The key project challenges will be to achieve the acoustic performance required for a top international venue and deliver a finished building that will be a significant architectural landmark in the city, all without detracting from the current building's architectural heritage.

Jacobs will provide project management services; perform technical reviews; develop specifications; and prepare capital, operating, and lifecycle cost estimates. The work will be executed from its Dublin offices.
