Jacobs Receives Contract for the North County Corridor in Stanislaus County, Calif.

PASADENA, Calif., Jan. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it received a contract from a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) to provide preliminary engineering and environmental services for approximately 24 miles of roadway in Stanislaus County, which is one of the fastest growing communities in California. The Joint Powers Authority consists of the County of Stanislaus; the cities of Modesto, Riverbank, and Oakdale; the Stanislaus Council of Governments (StanCOG); and the California Department of Transportation.

Officials did not disclose the contract value. The work is part of a project that would cost approximately $1 billion to construct and is expected to take about 20 years to complete.

The project's primary intent is to provide a high capacity east-west roadway to accommodate anticipated traffic growth in the area, alleviate traffic on parallel roadways, and accommodate multi-modal travel.

Jacobs will provide preliminary engineering and environmental services for this four- to eight-lane facility that spans the cities of Modesto, Riverbank, and Oakdale; and the County of Stanislaus. The project is anticipated to have about ten interchanges, five at-grade intersections, and four railroad crossings. The first of this size in the county, the project will serve the regional and inter-regional needs of the Stanislaus County. Jacobs earlier completed a preliminary design for the project and enabled the County to compete for about $91 million in state funds.

In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Robert M. Clement stated, "Not only will the North County Corridor project bring relief to drivers who endure heavy traffic on a daily basis, but it will also support the region's economic growth and contribute to current and future highway operations in the area. We believe our continuing partnership with the JPA will deliver real benefits to the people in the region."

Jacobs, with over 57,000 employees and revenues exceeding $11.0 billion, provides technical, professional, and construction services globally.
