Q&A with Valorie Hargett Jacobs Americas Sales Leader for Foreseeable Phoenix, Arizona, U.S.

In this feature, Jacobs Americas Sales Leader for Foreseeable Valorie Hargett discusses how delivering integrated solutions empowers organizations to address uncertainty and tackle their challenges in a new way.

Let’s chat with Valorie:

Valorie, can you tell us about Jacobs’ Foreseeable Solutions and how does it fit our plans to boldly move the company forward?

Our Foreseeable team brings a way of thinking and a system of solutions that enable transformational outcomes for the built environment: Future of Work, Net Zero + Climate Positive and Built Environment as a Service. We apply diverse expertise from across Jacobs to deliver integrated solutions that empower organizations to address uncertainty and tackle their challenges in a new way.

Jacobs is at an inflection point – we pivoted from being an engineering-focused company to a solutions-driven one. As one of the company’s growth initiatives, Foreseeable is designed to be what we describe as a “force-multiplier” for growth.

By working in partnership with our colleagues in sales across markets and around the world we can identify clients who are brave, bold and seeking transformational change (a few of the key criteria we use to filter for Foreseeable clients.) By engaging at the C-Suite, we have a different conversation and impact than is possible at the project level.

Entering the post-pandemic world, what do you think is the biggest risk our clients and communities face when it comes to NextGen Sustainability, Future of Place and Built Environment as a Service?

Being overwhelmed with change. The pace of continued rapid and escalating change makes solid planning and decision making more challenging, yet more critical than ever. There has been a paradigm shift on multiple levels including the mass migration of people and companies to new locations - impacting communities at an overwhelming rate. Planning metrics and "business as usual solutions" no longer apply resulting in a great deal of uncertainty.

“Think big, but act in small ways every day – it’s the little things that add up to making a big difference over time. ”

What about Foreseeable made you say, “I want to do this as my career”?

The opportunity to make a bold and meaningful difference on a mass scale and to get to do it with an amazing team of people.

What advice would you give a young employee that wants to build a better world?

Think big, but act in small ways every day – it’s the little things that add up to making a big difference over time.

What is your most proud career moment?

That’s a tough one because I've been blessed with an amazing career. When Monte Wilson and the team welcomed me to this amazing Foreseeable team was that moment for me. I am so proud and grateful for this opportunity.

What is next for the Foreseeable team?

Our quest is to provide transformational solutions for a select group of services and clients – this requires being bold, going beyond business as usual and embracing the concept of “radical integration” a phrase my colleague Gary Lapera uses to describe our approach. I believe under not only the company growth engine but now the new three-year Jacobs strategy, we have the opportunity, over time, to expand our team and solutions to be a key enabler of Jacobs pivot toward being a solutions provider.

What do you enjoy most about being part of #OurJacobs?

Our people! I've never met so many super smart, humble people working together to find solutions to a broad array of challenges. Additionally, I'm excited about the journey we're on to transform our own organization. It's an amazing time to be part of Jacobs!
