The Future of Smart, Secure Facilities: A Look at our 2020 SAME Design Awardees
The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) saluted Jacobs’ designs with its inaugural Design Awards program.
As technology and innovation rapidly changes the landscape for military installations around the world, staying ahead of the curve is mission and business critical.
Our talented team of dreamers, thinkers and doers around the world work to deliver mission-driven services to federal, public sector, private sector and defense contractor clients to tackle the challenges facing these organizations today, and the ones looming ahead tomorrow. And recently, at the Society of American Military Engineers’ (SAME) inaugural Design Awards program, our architecture, interior and landscape design solutions were acknowledged as leaders in facilitating and advancing global mission readiness.
A new program this year, the Design Awards join SAME’s larger awards program in recognizing individuals and organizations from the public and private sectors for achievements in support of the architecture, engineering and construction profession, national security objectives and the SAME Strategic Plan.
Eight winners were selected from 60 project submissions evenly split between two categories, "Built" project and "Planning, Design, and Studies" – and Jacobs received recognition for the following:
- Cyber Engineering Academic Center, United States Military Academy, West Point, New York: Planning, Design, and Studies Merit Award
- F-35 Centralized Engine Repair Facility, Naval Air Station Lemoore, California: Built Project Merit Award
- Arlington National Cemetery Millennium Project, Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia: Built Project Merit Award
“We approach our work with the client’s vision in mind and we understand that we’re responsible for helping solve their most important challenges,” said Jacobs People & Places Solutions Senior Vice President & General Manager, Federal & Environmental Solutions Tim Byers. “These recognitions from SAME are a reflection of our outstanding reputation in government design and our commitment to delivering solutions to meet those challenges in innovative and resilient ways for a more connected, secure tomorrow.”
Added Jacobs Federal & Environmental Solutions National Design Principal Stephen Wakeman, “Winning three of the eight Design Awards is an outstanding accomplishment for our Architectural Community of Practice. Highlighting the depth and breadth of our government buildings portfolio, Jacobs submitted 14 nominations in this inaugural award year. Congratulations to all for demonstrating our architectural leadership in planning, design and the built environment.”
