A Fast Track Career in Transport Planning
The Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation's (CIHT) Young Professional of the Year 2015 Peter Hibbert recently spoke to Transportation Professional magazine about his career in transport planning and how the Northern Powerhouse agenda has made local authorities in the UK think differently about the type of schemes they want to put forward.
Peter joined Jacobs’ UK Graduate Development Programme just eight years ago, and is now a qualified Transport Planning Professional managing important projects for the company in the north of England, including motorway junction improvement and rail connectivity schemes. In 2013, Peter went on to achieve Transport Planning Professional (TPP) accreditation, which provides transport planners with a route to chartership.
Peter is currently Jacobs’ project manager responsible for developing a major business case for a link road project in Cheshire. He is also highly active in the industry, chairing CIHT’s Yorkshire & the Humber Region Young Professional Committee last year and remaining involved in the region since then. Peter is now a trained mentor for new TPP candidates and an active member for the Jacobs Next Network, which focuses on employees with 6-10 years of experience and provides the next level for deepening professional networks and leveraging those networks for further career development. Network members work on more targeted development and play a role in advising leaders on how to improve areas of our business.
